How is KoolPool different from other carpooling sites?
As much as other carpooling sites share our mission of reducing traffic congestion, KoolPool offers much more than that:

Why does KoolPool require members to be affiliated with an organization?
The answer is a simple one. Safety! If you are sharing a car with someone, you will definitely want to make sure that the person is someone you can relate to and trust. So, the membership criteria are there to ensure certain homogeneity in the pooling group. To put your misgivings at rest, we want to ensure as far as possible that the person you’re pooling with is like you, just from a different organization. We don’t want you or KoolPool to be victimized by the folly of others.

How KoolPool makes sure the genuinity of my employment?
KoolPool will ask you to either send us a mail from your company’s email address or courier us a copy of employment proof which could be a copy of company’s photo ID, salary slip or a letter from your employer.

I don’t own a car. Can I still join KoolPool?
Yes. You can use the system as a Kool Giver, Kool Seeker or leave it open to either.

Is there an annual membership fee? How much is it?
To be a verified member you will have to pay the annual fee of Rs. 350. However currently the membership is being offered at a special price of Rs.99. This amount goes towards verifying the member, issuing the photo ID card, courier charges and 1 free ride.

How do I register?
Just click on Register Now, select the relevant option and fill up the given fields. Your application will be locked for approval. If you wish to be a verified member of KoolPool, please login using the ID and password mailed to you to pay the annual fee.

Can I check if there are people on my route, before paying the annual fee?
Yes you can do that. Within 24 hours of registration your application will be approved enabling you to search for your potential pool partner.

If I’m using my mobile, is my number safe?
No mobile numbers are ever directly used. Every SMS is routed through our system. So your number is always safe.

Does KoolPool share my personal information with third parties?
We assure you that your personal information is safe with us. KoolPool never allows any third party, be it sponsors or members, to have access to the database without your permission. Other members will identify you only through your unique membership ID until you're ready to share your contact details with them. Please read KoolPool’s privacy policy for details.

I commute from Point A to Point B each day. Can you find a pool partner for me? KoolPool empowers its members to find their pool partners themselves using the search tool. Just login to fill in your commute information in the space provided, and a list of members traveling on your route will pop up. If on the road, send a simple message stating your status and route number and get a list of members on your route by return sms.

What if I don't find a match?
As and when the database grows, chances of finding a pool partner increase. If it is one of those unfortunate timings when no one is traveling on your route, we advise you to come back and check us later. KoolPool is gaining popularity and interested carpoolers find us every day!

Still if by the end of the year, we fail to find a pool partner for you; your annual fee will be refunded.

I have found matches on my route. How do I communicate with them?
Other members can be contacted through their membership ID’s. You can send a mail or an SMS to them from the website using ‘My Communicators’. You can also send an SMS from your mobile using Chat keyword and their membership ID. While all the members can receive SMS, only verified members are allowed to send the same.

I have sent off liners to many members but haven’t got a single reply. What should I do?
Unfortunately you can’t do much here. Sometimes members don’t bother to reply when your commute details don’t match their requirements.

Where should I meet my Pool Partners?
Using our communicators you can discuss with them the common meeting point convenient to both of you.

How trustworthy are the people I’m traveling with?
We do our utmost to ensure that the person sitting next to you is safe. All the KoolPoolers with icon (tick mark) in their profiles are verified by KoolPool and are employees of reputed organizations. However if you decide to pool with a non verified member, please check his / her credentials before confirming the pool.

What are the advantages of being a verified member?
Verified members are given a photo ID card that they must flash to prove authenticity. Verified members can use our prepaid system to share the fuel expenses while car sharing. Verified members get access to our MIS system which is used to track, which people are traveling together to safeguard against unfortunate circumstances. Verified members can also track the CO2 emissions they help reduce while taking a ride with other verified members Verified members enjoy the benefits of schemes introduced by KoolPool on regular basis.

How do I know it's safe to get into the car?
Make sure it is a 'KoolPool Car' (look for the KoolPool sticker). Ask to see the driver's membership card (photo ID) which is given after due verification. If you are pooling with a non verified member, please check his credentials before sitting in the car.

Can I refuse a ride if I'm not comfortable?
Yes, if your instincts say that something is not right then you can always decline a ride even at the last moment.

Do I have to use KoolPool every day?
It’s completely up to you. You can use KoolPool once a year, once a week or everyday of the week. It’s for you to choose.

Do I have to ride with lots of different people?
Again the choice is yours. You can pool with the same person everyday or can choose different pool partner as per your timings and convenience.

Is it possible to only drive or only ride?
Yes. While planning your trip you are free to choose your status as a Kool Giver or a Seeker.

I am a Kool giver. What is the incentive for giving rides?
Every time you pick a ride seeker, 21 points get credited to your account. So if you pool with 2 members in one trip, you earn 42 points and for three members you earn 63 points. These points can be redeemed at HPCL petrol pumps for free fuel. If you are pooling with a non verified member, please discuss amongst yourselves the cost of ride sharing

How are Kool givers supposed to redeem their points?
Points can be redeemed in 500 and its multiples. SMS us the related keyword and HPCL voucher will be dispatched immediately. Present the voucher and your photo ID card at any of the HPCL outlets and get free fuel worth it.

For 500 points, how much worth of fuel will I get?
500 points can be exchanged for fuel worth Rs. 400. Similarly 1000 points can be exchanged for fuel of Rs. 800.

I am a Kool seeker. How much will a KoolPool ride cost?
For every ride taken, 21 points will be deducted from your prepaid account.

The cost per ride is irrespective of the distance?
As of now yes. Our decision to have slabs will be based on the feedback given by our members i.e. YOU!

Is there a cost of using the system? How much is it?
Yes. Each time you send an sms using keywords KG, KS, LIST and CHAT, half a point will be deducted from your KoolPool account. It will contribute to the cost of providing the service.

How a seeker is supposed to compensate the giver for ride given?
All our members have a prepaid account with us. When a seeker sits in a giver’s car, he is supposed to send a confirmatory message using keyword POOL to our system. As soon as the system receives this message, 21 points get debited from seekers prepaid account and get credited in givers account. If you are pooling with a non verified member, please discuss amongst yourselves the cost of ride sharing

How do I recharge my prepaid account?
There are two ways of adding points to your account. One is by giving rides to Kool Seekers. Other option is to buy the points from us. The table below explains the number of points you get according to the amount paid.

How do I actually pay for the points if I need to buy them?
Payments can be made either by sending a cheque drawn in favor of KoolPool or by credit card.

What happens if my cheque doesn’t reach on time and my balance is zero?
System keeps an eye on your account and starts sending you reminders when your balance is low, giving you enough time to make payments on time. However if you have dispatched the cheque and it gets delayed, send us a mail and we’ll recharge your account. KoolPool has full faith in its members.

If multiple seekers are taking a taxi, how is the fare divided?
If the seekers are going to multiple destinations, then the one going furthest pays the most and the one going closes pays the least with the others dividing accordingly. If multiple seekers are going to the same destination, then all of them pay equally.

Can a friend travel with me on the route, even if he isn’t a KoolPooler?
A friend who isn’t a KoolPooler can’t travel with you unless the Ride Giver is okay with it. And the chances of that happening are slim!

Are you sure KoolPool will work?
Yes we are confident that KoolPool will work. We believe that we can’t stop people from buying cars. But if we provide a safe and organized alternative, we will succeed in making them leave their cars behind and travel together.

How will KoolPool make money from this?
KoolPool intends to make money from membership fee. Also service charge deduction from transactions will help us in keeping the system up and running.
